Wrestling: Youth

It's wrestling time once again.

Wrestling is sponsored by the Village Baptist Church Recreation Committee. Last year we had 40 wrestlers on the team and look forward to that many or more for this upcoming season.

Practice gets started on November 2, 2009 at 5:30 in the upper room of the VCA Field House for ages 5-18. Practices will be on Monday and Thursday from

5:30-6:30 for ages 5-10 and 6:30-8:00 for ages 11-18.

Cost is $55 for returning wrestlers who have their practice shorts and t-shirts from last year, $65 for new wrestlers or if you need shorts and t-shirt, or $100 for all plus a sweat suit. We will measure for shorts, t-shirts, and sweat suits on November 2.

Wrestlers are provided a headgear and singlet to use during the season but must be returned at the end. All participants must also join the Amateur Athletic Union. Cost is $14.00 at the following website http://aauwrestling.net/.

Tournaments are on Saturdays, normally twice per month and wrestlers attend only those events they choose.

Congratulations!

Our wrestlers excelled at the Rhino Extreme Wrestling Tournament last weekend at the Crown Coliseum. Bryson Cottrell, Colin Spell, Joshua George, Hudson Zeisman, Nicholas Alexander & Caleb Ling all wrestled on Saturday. Nicholas & Caleb took first place while Joshua & Hudson took second place, both just missing first place by losing their championship matches in overtime. We are proud of all the wrestlers and Coach Todd Gustafson. Great job!
