Doc is an ordained minister who earned a Ph.D. in instructional technology at the University of Virginia. He came to Village Baptist Church in July 2006 following 21 years on the faculty at Liberty University. Over the years, he has earned a number of commendations and awards for video productions and community service. He has also built or refurbished several video and audio production facilities including the one at Liberty University which at that time was described by one group of professionals as "the finest educational video production facility in the Commonwealth of Virginia" and one of the best on the east coast.

Doc believes that the gospel of Jesus Christ should be spread by every available means especially through the increasing number of electronic formats. These electronic formats allow us to reach people in places and in ways that have never before been open to us.

Doc and Rosie, his wife of 27 years, have two grown children.

Doc has returned to Virginia to work with his son and to do consulting.
