Marty comes from Peculiar, Missouri, where he graduated as Valedictorian from Raymore-Peculiar High School. He graduated Magna Cum Laude from William Jewell College with a BS in Music Education and a lifetime accreditation to teach Band and Choirs.

In 1986, he earned a Masters Degree in Music Ministry from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. Marty was ordained at one of the two churches he served in Florida prior to coming to Village in 1994. 

Marty directs all music activities at Village. This includes both Sanctuary Choirs, the High School and Middle School Choirs, and the Older Children’s Choir. 

In addition to a number of seasonal presentations, Marty's choirs have partnered in special presentations with the 82nd Airborne Division Band, the Cumberland County Oratorio Singers, and the Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir.

His youth choirs have toured in the United States, Canada and Mexico. The Older Children’s Choir have received Superior rating at Carowinds Choral Festival in 2004, 2005 and 2006. 

Marty has served as the Associational Music Director for the New South River Baptist Association, is an active member of the North Carolina Baptist Singers, and has directed The Youth Chorale at Methodist College. He also served as guest clinician at Methodist College Summer Camp July 1998, and was the Children’s Choir guest clinician for the Cumberland County All County Chorus March 1999. 

Marty has married the wonderfully talented Ronda, who also teaches music at Village Christian Academy. They have three children.
